Backup Sorcery for Autodesk Forma and BIM 360

Desktop Connector gives you the latest version. Backup Sorcery gives you the history.

A free Windows app that copies your Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud) and BIM 360 projects to local disk — every version Autodesk lets it retrieve, not just the latest, with a SHA-256 manifest you can check without the app.

Every version, as its own file.

One file per version, in the same folder tree you see in your hub. A person can open it; no database, no proprietary archive.

A backup you can verify.

Every downloaded version is listed with its SHA-256 hash in a plain JSON manifest. Check the copy years from now, with or without Backup Sorcery.

Resumes, never starts over.

An interrupted download continues from the byte it stopped at, and a run that dies is recorded as interrupted — never as finished, never forgotten.

How it works

  1. Register your own Autodesk app.

Backup Sorcery runs as your own Autodesk Platform Services application. No AEC.codes account, and your files never pass through our servers.

  2. Your hub administrator enables it.

Once per hub. Backup Sorcery can only reach hubs where an administrator has enabled the integration.

  3. See before you download.

List what each project holds — folders, files, versions — before a single byte moves.

  4. Download, then walk away.

Latest versions only, or every version. Queue several projects; a recap of what happened is waiting when you come back.

Setup is a one-time job, and it needs a hub administrator. A step-by-step guide will be published with the first release.

FAQ

Does it back up every project I'm invited to?

No. Only projects on hubs where an administrator has enabled the integration, and only what your own account can already see.

Does it get around project permissions?

No. It inherits your folder permissions: it exposes nothing a member could not already download. It removes friction, not walls.

Does it really get every version?

Every version Autodesk's API lets it retrieve. Some linked files inside cloud model copies cannot be retrieved by any tool through that API; Backup Sorcery records them as refused instead of pretending they are there.

Where do my files go?

Straight from Autodesk to the folder you choose on your own computer.

Is it a Revit add-in?

No. It is a standalone Windows app; Revit does not need to be installed. A command-line mode is included for scheduled runs.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Backup Sorcery is free.

What do I need?

A Windows PC, an Autodesk account with access to the hub, and a hub administrator willing to enable the integration once.
