Check your Backup Sorcery backup without the app
Every step here can be checked with Windows' own tools. Backup Sorcery for Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud) and BIM 360 does not need to be installed.
1. What is in the folder
The project tree, one file per version with the _vNN suffix, and backup-sorcery-manifest.json in the project folder.
2. What the manifest says
For each file, its folder, and for each version its number, local file, size and SHA-256. Separate lists record what was skipped or refused, with a reason.
A real excerpt is added with the release.
3. Check one file
In PowerShell:
Get-FileHash "path\to\file_v03.rvt" -Algorithm SHA256Compare the result with the manifest's value for that version.
4. "Skipped" is not "missing"
The manifest says why a version was not downloaded. There are two reasons, written in the manifest exactly as shown:
- The version was never published:
rcm-never-published. - A folder or file name in the path is longer than Windows allows:
path component exceeds Windows' 255-character limit.
A folder your account cannot open never reaches the app, so it is not in the manifest at all. A version already on disk and unchanged is listed as downloaded, not skipped.
